Guidelines for Stem Cell Therapy
In today's modern medical world, treatments that were not possible
a few years ago are now able to be carried out with amazing ease.
The risk, however, now presents itself in that almost anyone with
a little medical and scientific knowledge can perform procedures,
whilst the public still remains uninformed on the subject, becoming
potential victims of permanent side-effects.
There are a few points which are not negotiable when deciding
on appropriate therapy. Relenting on any of these points can lead
to a non-response or an adverse reaction, which can have lifelong
implications. Please be meticulous when deciding on who treats
you. Leave nothing to chance and be careful where you take your
advice from.
1. Stem cell therapy offers no guarantees and is not a cure for
any disease.
2. Anecdotal evidence, personal experience or information offered
on blogs offer no proof of therapy outcomes and can be dangerously
biased. It can give you an idea of what the clinic is like in
terms of service and facilities, but should not be relied upon
to make a decision for treatment.
3. Only accept treatment from a company that uses cells from a
GMP
facility. Without this assurance, the cells may be impure and
lead to tumour formation or Graft vs Host disease.
4. Cortisone (steroid) or non-steroidal anti-inflammatories do
not belong anywhere in the treatment process. Their use will inhibit
engraftment and mask any adverse events. This will lead to a failed
response to the treatment. Stem cells rely on inflammation to
guide their homing and this is switched off by any anti-inflammatory
- resulting in no treatment response.
5. Multiple invasive procedures confer no extra benefit, and lead
to higher risk of contamination, infection and results in greater
trauma and therefore less response to therapy. The reason for
the lesser response is that trauma is inflammation and attracts
stem cells, which are wasted on the damage caused, and not on
the disease the patient wanted treatment for in the first place.
In addition, repeated lumbar punctures can lead to long-term back
pain.
6. Cells should be given separately and the exact numbers should
be detailed on the certificate of analysis which must specify
each vial. Mixtures should not be used and purity must be listed.
7. Current evidence shows that Mesenchymal cells should always
be used to gain an optimal effect.
8. Lengthy treatment times are unnecessary. No benefit over one
week has been demonstrated.
9. Intravenous treatment is not enough for neurological conditions
in patients over the age of 8.
10. Umbilical cord cells are the safest and most effective. Your
own cells are much less effective and provide no additional safety.
Embryonic and fetal cells could offer unknown risks.
11. Treatment without growth factors, like RegAmp™, is pointless.
This is because stem cells will not remain in the circulation
unless forced to, and will immediately migrate into the bone marrow
where they remain dormant and do not become active without being
stimulated artificially to do so. Stem cells will only work if
they are in our blood vessels or central nervous systems, not
our bone marrow.
12. Screening blood tests must be done before treatment begins.
These are available from info@regenecell.com.
13. Genuine stem cell treatment with any basis in medical science
cannot be done for significantly less than $20 000. The production
and testing costs alone are a significant portion of this.
14. There are no supplements that will enhance treatment responses
or make you own stem cells leave your bone marrow and magically
repair your disease. However, taking good supplements is recommended
by the American Medical Association and Regenecell/Beaucell
endorses this.
15. No less than 30 million cells should be used in a complete
treatment. No extra benefit has ever been shown with higher numbers.
16. Do not accept a company’s claim that cells can be posted to
you. Stem cells need to be cryopreserved to retain their efficacy,
and specialised cryocouriers are used who ensure this cryo-chain
is never broken. Also, importing biologicals across state borders,
especially into the USA, is illegal and carries severe penalties
for you and your doctor.
17. No stem cell company has FDA approval. They might use FDA
approved processes in the production of their product, but that
is as far as it goes.
18. Do not wait too long. The later in the disease process or
the more damage you have, the more work there is for the cells
to do and the less benefit you will derive.
